Common Surgical Procedures

Hysterectomy, Tubal Ligation, Novasure, D&C, Laparoscopy, LEEP, Robotic Assisted Procedures, and many others.

Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy surgically removes the uterus. Minimally invasive laparoscopic or vaginal techniques are preferred, allowing same-day release. Reasons include abnormal bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis, prolapse, and cancer. Laparoscopy uses small incisions and a camera. Vaginal hysterectomy removes the uterus through the vagina. Recovery takes about a week. Experienced doctors ensure skilled care.

Tubal Ligation

This surgical sterilization procedure prevents pregnancy by clamping and blocking or severing and sealing a woman's fallopian tubes. This permanent method of sterilization prevents sperm from reaching an egg, thereby preventing fertilization and pregnancy.

Dilation and Curettage (D&C)

A dilation and curettage procedure, also called a D&C, is a minor surgical procedure in which the cervix is dilated, allowing a doctor to remove abnormal tissues in the uterine lining. A D&C is used as a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure, helping to address excessive bleeding, detect reproductive cancer, or help investigate causes of infertility.

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that uses a laparoscope with a camera to view the pelvic organs. It can diagnose and treat conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and ectopic pregnancy. The procedure involves small incisions, less pain, and faster recovery compared to open surgery. Patients typically go home the same day but may need to rest for a few days. Laparoscopy is an alternative to open surgery for many gynecological issues.

LEEP

LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure) is a treatment for abnormal cell growth on the cervix's surface. It uses a heated wire loop, powered by electricity, to remove abnormal tissue. LEEP is an effective way to prevent the progression of precancerous cells to cervical cancer. The procedure is typically performed in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia. Patients may experience mild cramping and discharge following the procedure but can usually return to normal activities within a few days.

NovaSure

NovaSure is an endometrial ablation procedure for treating abnormally heavy or lengthy menstrual periods (menorrhagia). It is a one-time treatment that gently removes the uterine lining without incisions or stitches. The procedure is quick, safe, and simple, making it an attractive option for women who have completed childbearing or are certain they don't want children. NovaSure can significantly reduce or eliminate menstrual bleeding, improving quality of life for women suffering from menorrhagia.

Robotic Assisted Procedures

Robotic-assisted surgery offers a minimally invasive alternative to traditional open surgery for various gynecological conditions. These advanced systems use miniaturized instruments and a high-definition 3D camera, allowing surgeons to operate with precision and control through small incisions. Benefits include less trauma, minimal scarring, and shorter recovery times. Robotic technology can be used for hysterectomies, fibroid removal, pelvic prolapse surgery, and endometriosis resection.
